Thinking of visiting upstate NY? You heard it’s boring you say? Speak no further, allow me to change your mind with the following recommendations on where you should go if you are in the Capital District.

There is a lot of history in the capital region, not only American history, but indigenous history as well. Many of the towns and streets are named after Native American tribes. If you are a history buff, this is definitely a place you will enjoy. Even if you are not, the beauty in upstate NY is like no other. The Adirondack mountains surround the region, with many unique places to visit. Below is a small list of places that are a must to visit!

Lake George

-Fort William and Henry: Historical fort from the American Revolutionary War

-Lake George Village: A beautiful and bustling village that lines Lake George. Lake George is ideal to visit in the fall and summer months.

-The Great Escape: An amusement park that is part of the Six Flags franchise. Known for it’s Octoberfest and roller coasters.

-Martha’s Ice Cream: The best ice cream ever. Was featured on The Today Show.

-The Adirondack Mountains: There are plenty of activities to do in the mountains depending on the season. In the winter it’s a popular place to ski, tube, and lodge in the warm cabins.
